$CHAM · SOLANA

It didn't run.
It was invited.

A chameleon takes the color of whatever it lands on. Before Hyperliquid, there was Chameleon — a handle, then a firm, then a vault. This one landed on Solana.

A chameleon mid-stride between two slabs — its hind half green on the green slab, its front half violet on the violet one.

01 · The lore

Before Hyperliquid,
there was Chameleon.

Every claim below links to something you can open and read yourself. Where we have nothing to link, we say so instead of filling the gap.

  1. The handle came first

A middle-school video-game name he never let go of.

Years before Hyperliquid existed, “Chameleon” was Jeff Yan's handle in middle school. It became the name of his trading firm. It is still his handle on X today — @chameleon_jeff.

And it was never the camouflage metaphor. He likes the actual animal: eyes that aim in two directions at once, feet that grip two claws forward and three back, a tongue like a railgun. “They're kind of like aliens on Earth.”

  2. Ten thousand dollars in San Juan

The firm ran alone, then folded into the vault.

Chameleon Trading was run “more or less alone” out of San Juan, Puerto Rico, started with $10,000 of his own savings, and grew thousands of percent a year. Beneath Jump, Tower, HRT and Jane Street sat a tier of anonymous firms — Chameleon was one of the most substantial.

Yan shut it down after FTX: “no investors to consult, no board to convince.” In May 2023 he deployed its most successful strategies into HLP, the vault at the heart of Hyperliquid. The firm is gone. The strategies still run.

A violet chameleon pressed flat against a violet geometric plane, almost invisible — only its green far eye breaks the camouflage.
One of the biggest desks in crypto, and almost nobody knew its name.

  3. The invitation

    Solana asked first.

This quote is not published yet.

Solana's co-founder said publicly, in May 2026, that he wants Hyperliquid to be able to run as a Solana smart contract. We are not printing his words here until we have opened the original post and matched them character for character.

    Verification status: BRAND.md §9

The narrative point does not depend on the wording: this chameleon did not sneak onto Solana. The door was held open.

  4. And here it changes color

It adapts. That's the whole animal.

A chameleon takes the color of whatever it lands on. On StonkFun, you choose what your coin lands on — the launchpad's actual mechanic is the animal's actual behaviour. We chose SOL, because anyone can buy SOL.

It landed on Solana. It turned purple.

    1. The chameleon stretched between two slabs, body split hard down the middle. 01 · leaving
    2. The chameleon gripping a violet edge, body still almost entirely green. 02 · landing
    3. The chameleon fully violet, the colour change complete. 03 · adapted

No source. This one's the joke.

02 · Get in

Two steps.
Not three.

The HyperEVM version needs you to bridge onto chain 999 before you can swap at all. This one doesn't. That's the entire practical difference, and it's the honest reason to be here rather than there.

01

Have SOL in a Solana wallet

Phantom, Solflare, Backpack — any of them. Keep a little SOL spare for fees; they're fractions of a cent, but zero is still zero.

02

Swap for $CHAM

Verify the contract address above, then swap. While it's still on the bonding curve that happens on StonkFun; once it graduates to Raydium, any aggregator routes it.

SWAP

$CHAM is a separate token on a separate chain. It is not bridged, wrapped, or exchangeable for the CHAMELEON token on HyperEVM, and it is not run by those people. If anyone tells you the two are connected, they are lying to you.

03 · Spread

No team.
No official anything.

There is nobody to ask for permission. Take a post, make it yours, or write something better — the second one is worth more.

A wide violet landscape of hard geometric shapes under a pale green sun, the chameleon small on a far ledge.
